File Transfer Programs
Posted on April 28th, 2010 No commentsOne of the greatest things about having so many people writing software these days is someone always comes up with a better way to do what you need to do.
Years ago when I first learned to update my websites I had to use a File Transfer Program (FTP) which would time out if I didn’t access it every two minutes. It was very frustrating and wasted a lot of time.
Then a couple of years ago I installed FireFox as an alternative browser (like Microsoft Explorer). Within a few months I noticed someone had created FireFTP which is resident on FireFox.
The main reason I like it is I don’t have to shut it down and re-launch it every time I need to up load a file.
Files you will need to up load to your Blog will include pictures (.jpg files), ebooks, files made accessible by Adobe Acrobat for easy download to any format (.pdf’), audio files (.mp3), video (.mpeg) from files you’ve created or Flip Videos you’ve stored on your computer.
When you log into your FTP access, select the folder where the file is, access the public.html file, open the folder for your website and click on the arrow to transfer the file to your website.
File Transfer Program is a program you can download to transfer files from your computer to your website/blog.
